Prague and several parts of Czechia were greeted with the first significant snowfall of the season on Monday, transforming the capital into a bright winter landscape. With temperatures around freezing, the city experienced a calm, early-winter atmosphere that residents often associate with the start of the holiday season.

Meteorologists from the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (ČHMÚ) report that more light snow is expected through Tuesday and Wednesday, offering the capital several days of classic winter weather. Temperatures will remain close to 0°C, creating ideal conditions for a soft blanket of snow to settle across streets, parks, and rooftops.

In many regions of Czechia, the snowfall brought a fresh seasonal look, especially in Central Bohemia and parts of Moravia and Silesia, where higher altitudes may see up to 20 centimeters of snow. The arrival of colder weather is typical for late November, marking the transition into the festive winter period.

Throughout the week, Prague can expect crisp air, gentle flurries, and picturesque mornings with temperatures dipping slightly below freezing at night. Mountain regions, including Šumava, will experience deeper winter temperatures, offering excellent early-season conditions for winter tourism.

From Thursday onward, a ridge of high pressure is expected to bring clearer skies, stable conditions, and classic lowland winter fog—another familiar sign that Czechia’s winter has officially begun.
