Prague’s Flora metro station on Line A will be closed for approximately 10 months starting from February 2, 2026, as part of a major reconstruction and modernization project announced by the Prague Public Transport Company (DPP). The closure will affect both the station’s main vestibule and the pedestrian underpass beneath Vinohradská Street, meaning passengers will not be able to enter or exit the station during this period. Metro trains will continue to pass through the station at reduced speeds, but they will not stop.

The extensive renovation aims to replace the station’s original Soviet-era escalators, which have been in operation for over 45 years, and significantly improve accessibility for passengers with reduced mobility. Planned upgrades include the installation of new escalators, elevators, emergency staircases, improved lighting, modern ventilation systems, new electrical wiring, and upgraded wall cladding across the station.

Additional works will address long-standing structural issues such as water leakage and aging technical infrastructure. Contractors will also reinforce support walls, renovate technical rooms, and enhance overall safety standards. Once completed, the modernization is expected to provide a more comfortable, safer, and fully accessible environment for daily commuters and visitors.

During the closure, passengers are advised to use alternative metro stations such as Želivského and Jiřího z Poděbrad, or rely on tram lines 10, 11, 13, and 16 for travel. Pedestrians will need to use marked crossings to navigate Vinohradská Street near the Flora shopping center. The station is scheduled to reopen in late November or early December 2026, offering faster and more convenient access to one of Prague’s busiest transport hubs.
