Starting July 1, travelers between Prague and South Bohemia will be able to use a single ticket across regional borders as the Central Bohemian Region’s Prague Integrated Transport (PID) system and the new South Bohemian IDESKA network become fully integrated. The change will allow passengers to combine train and bus journeys without buying separate tickets when crossing between the two regions, making travel more convenient for commuters and tourists alike.

The integration is expected to simplify access to popular destinations. PID ticket holders will be able to travel directly to places such as Tábor, Planá nad Lužnicí, and Orlík nad Vltavou, while travelers using South Bohemian fares can reach Central Bohemian towns including Benešov, Sedlčany, Vlašim, and Příbram. Officials say the move will improve passenger comfort, simplify navigation, and create a more unified public transport system regardless of regional boundaries.

According to regional representatives, the project reflects a broader effort to make public transportation more attractive and competitive with private car travel. By removing administrative barriers and creating a seamless ticketing experience, authorities hope to encourage more residents and visitors to choose buses and trains for both daily commuting and leisure travel. The initiative is also expected to support sustainable mobility goals by reducing traffic congestion and lowering transport-related emissions.

The new system is particularly beneficial for weekend tourists and day-trippers departing from Prague. South Bohemia is known for its historic towns, scenic countryside, and recreational areas, and the simplified transport network will make these destinations easier to reach without the need to plan separate tickets or connections. Travelers will have greater flexibility when combining regional buses and trains, making spontaneous trips more convenient.

In addition to unified ticketing, several bus routes around the Benešov, Votice, and Sedlčany areas will be reorganized and renumbered to avoid confusion between the two systems. Long-distance services connecting Prague with the regions of Písek, Strakonice, and Prachatice will also be expanded. A key route, currently line 401, will be rerouted and renamed line 408, providing a direct connection between Prague and Tábor via Sedlec-Prčice.

Transport officials emphasized that the revised timetables were developed after consultations with local municipalities and passengers to better reflect real commuting patterns and travel needs. This collaborative approach aimed to identify gaps in service and improve connectivity between smaller communities and larger transport hubs. As a result, many residents are expected to benefit from more efficient and reliable travel options.

Passengers crossing regional boundaries will be able to choose the fare system that best suits their journey or combine tariffs when necessary. Combined tickets can be purchased directly from bus drivers or train conductors, reducing the need for advance planning. Draft timetables and details of the upcoming route changes have already been published on the official PID website, giving travelers time to familiarize themselves with the new arrangements before the integration takes effect.
