Prague Airport has launched a new summer travel campaign called “Check In” as it prepares for one of the busiest holiday seasons in its history. Airport officials expect nearly 11.9 million passengers during the summer months, marking a significant increase compared to last year. With traffic levels continuing to rise and construction work taking place near the airport, travelers are being advised to plan ahead and arrive earlier than usual to avoid delays and last-minute stress.
The airport has warned that ongoing roadworks near the Aviatická–Lipská intersection may create heavy traffic congestion around access roads leading to the terminals. Officials are encouraging passengers to use public transport whenever possible and to allow extra time before departure. Prague Airport handled more than 17.7 million passengers in 2025, and estimates suggest total passenger traffic could climb to almost 18.9 million this year as demand for European holiday destinations continues to grow.
As part of the campaign, Prague Airport shared five important recommendations for smoother travel. Passengers are advised to arrive at least 2.5 hours before departure, carefully check visa and passport requirements, and make use of self-service check-in kiosks and baggage drop facilities available for many airlines. Airport authorities also reminded travelers that electronic identity documents are not accepted at passport control.
Security procedures will differ depending on the terminal. At Terminal 1, the standard 100 ml liquid rule remains in place, and electronics must be removed from bags during screening. Terminal 2 uses advanced scanners that allow passengers to keep liquids and electronics inside their luggage, with one liquid container of up to two liters permitted. Officials also stressed that power banks, laptops, and e-cigarettes must always be carried in hand luggage, while lithium batteries exceeding 100 Wh are prohibited.
The airport is additionally promoting its digital assistant AVA, available through WhatsApp and Messenger, which provides live flight updates, boarding details, and answers to passenger questions. Prague Airport is also expanding its summer network to 183 destinations served by 77 airlines, including long-haul connections to destinations such as Philadelphia and Taipei, along with additional routes to Spain, Italy, and Portugal. Authorities say passengers who prepare in advance and understand airport procedures are more likely to enjoy a smooth and stress-free start to their summer holidays.
