U.S.-based burger chain Five Guys has officially confirmed that it will open its first restaurant in Prague on Dec. 8, located inside the Máj shopping center on Národní třída. The new branch will cover 250 square meters, offer seating for up to 600 guests, and operate every day from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Customers will also be able to place orders online through the Five Guys app, and the brand’s Czech website already features available job listings.
The opening comes after several delays. Five Guys originally planned to launch in the summer of 2024, then postponed the date to autumn 2024, followed by another delay to spring 2025. According to the company, the postponements were caused by renovation work taking place in the Máj shopping center, as well as the time required to implement Five Guys’ specific operational standards.
This debut in Prague is part of a broader wave of American fast-food chains expanding into Czechia. In recent years, Popeyes opened a branch on Wenceslas Square, while Domino’s Pizza has struggled with multiple store closures after entering the market. Earlier in the year, the U.S. Embassy announced that Wendy’s, Olive Garden, and Dave’s Hot Chicken were also looking for franchise partners in the country.
Founded in 1986 in Arlington, Virginia, Five Guys now operates more than 1,950 restaurants worldwide, and its move into Czechia reflects the company’s strategy of expanding into major European cities with strong tourist traffic.
