From October 1, Czechia has started introducing a new unified state social assistance benefit, often called the “super benefit.”

This new benefit is meant to replace several existing ones, including:

• Housing allowance

• Housing benefit

• Child welfare support

• Living allowance

Transition Period

• The old benefits will still be paid until March 31, 2026.

• However, before that date, everyone receiving these old benefits must switch to the new super benefit.

• People have time until December 31, 2025, to apply for the new system during the transition.

Application Requirements

To qualify for the super benefit, applicants need to provide:

• Proof of income (how much money they or their household earn)

• Proof of housing costs (rent, utilities, or other housing expenses)

• Information about family status (who lives in the household, dependents, etc.)

This change is designed to simplify the system by combining multiple social benefits into one, making it easier for people to apply and for the state to manage.
