Applying for a Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) might sound complicated, but the process is actually simple when you know the right steps. This certificate is often required for visa applications, immigration, or overseas employment.
Here’s a detailed step-by-step guide to help you complete the process easily through the Passport Seva Online Portal.

Step 1: Register on the Passport Seva Online Portal

1. Visit the Passport Seva Online Portal.
   
   

2. Click on the “Register” link on the home page.
   
   

3. Fill in your personal details, such as your name, date of birth, and email ID.
   
   

4. Choose your nearest Passport Office (RPO) during registration.
   
   

5. Create a login ID and password.

   
   

Tip: Keep your login details safe; you’ll need them throughout the process.

Step 2: Log in to Your Account

Once your registration is complete:

1. Log in to the portal using your Login ID and password created in Step 1.
   
   

2. From the main dashboard, click on “Apply for Police Clearance Certificate.”

Step 3: Fill in the PCC Application Form

After you select your Regional Passport Office (RPO), you’ll see a list of steps you need to complete.

The PCC application involves the following sections:

1. Passport Type – Choose the relevant type of passport or service.
   
   

2. Applicant Details – Enter your full name, date of birth, gender, and contact information.
   
   

3. Family Details – Provide your parents’ names and details.
   
   

4. Address Details – Add your current and permanent address accurately.
   
   

5. Other Details – Include any additional information as requested.
   
   

6. Self Declaration – Review and confirm all the details before submission.
   
   

Note: Double-check all your entries. Once the application is submitted, you cannot edit it.

Step 4: Submit the Application

• After completing all sections, submit the form.

• A unique Application Reference Number (ARN) will be generated.

• You can also save and resume your application later if needed.

Step 5: Pay the Fee & Schedule Your Appointment

To book your appointment, follow these steps:

1. Go to View → Pay and Schedule Appointment.
   
   

2. Payment must be made online before booking.
   
   

3. Choose the “Schedule/Reschedule Appointment” option.
   
   

4. Select your preferred Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) or Post Office Passport Seva Kendra (POPSK).
   
   

5. Pick your appointment type — Normal or Tatkaal (Tatkaal is available only for Tatkaal applications).
   
   

6. The system will show the next available date. Confirm your details and click “Pay and Book Appointment”.
   
   

7. Complete the payment via the secure gateway.
   
   

After successful payment:

• You’ll be redirected to the portal.

• The Appointment Confirmation page will appear with your appointment details.

• You can reschedule appointments up to three times (once for Tatkaal).

Step 6: Print or Save Your Application Receipt

After booking, click on “Print Application Receipt” to download it.

However, carrying a physical copy is not mandatory — an SMS confirmation of your appointment is also accepted at the Passport Office.

Step 7: Visit the Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) or Regional Passport Office (RPO)

On your appointment day:

• Visit the PSK/RPO with original documents for verification.

• Ensure you reach on time as per your scheduled slot.

  
  

Important Notes:

• Only emergency or medical cases are allowed without an appointment (subject to officer approval).

• For minor applicants below 4 years, carry a recent passport-size photo (4.5 x 3.5 cm, white background).

• If you don’t visit within 90 days of submitting the online form, you’ll need to resubmit your application.
